Prepare & Aftercare

A little care goes a long way

The essentials from our patient information sheet — you'll receive the full version at your consultation.

Stay out of the sun for 3–4 weeks before your session, and apply a high-SPF sunblock to the treatment area in the month before.
Shave the area the day before your appointment — but no waxing, plucking or hair removal at the root for at least 3 weeks prior.
Stop bleaching creams and self-tanning lotions 3 and 2 weeks before your session respectively.
Arrive with clean skin — gently cleansed, with no make-up or fragrance on the area.
Tell us about any medication or supplements you take; some can make skin light-sensitive.

Expect a warm prickling during the session only — it passes as soon as we're done.
Protect your skin from the sun while it settles; unprotected exposure can cause post-treatment pigmentation.
Soothe and moisturise — a calming cream straight after, and an aloe-based moisturiser in the days that follow.
Make-up, fragrance and deodorant can go back on the day after your session.
Tell us about any reaction — any post-session effect is worth reporting so we can advise you properly.

Shedding is normal — in the week after a session you'll notice what looks like regrowth; it's the treated hair shaft working its way out.
No tweezers, wax or epilators between sessions — they interfere with the hair cycle. Shaving and depilatory creams are fine.
Keep your interval — 4–6 weeks for face, bikini and underarms; 6–8 weeks for legs, arms, back and torso.
Moisturise well between visits to keep skin calm and ready for your next session.
